Prevention counseling is imporant because prevention works!

Surveys tell us that the majority of people with HIV make efforts to not infect other people with the virus. Despite that, a significant minority are still doing things that might put themselves and others at risk for HIV.

Current trends that reflect that some people with HIV may be putting others at risk include:

• Increases in unsafe sex
• Increases in STDs among HIV-infected people
• Increases in rates of primary resistance
